SharkBite ProLock fittings are a versatile and innovative full-flow plumbing system utilizing push lock fitting technology and engineered specifically for use with SharkBite PE-RT and PEX pipe. The SharkBite 1/2 in. Push-to-Connect Coupling intuitive design makes for one of the simplest and most dependable fittings on the market. No tools are required to make a connection. They use a collet with stainless steel teeth that grips the pipe when fully inserted, and an EPDM O-Ring to provide a permanent, leak-proof seal. The Twist-to-lock technology ensures maximum security. When twisted into place with indicator arrows aligned, the locking cap locks the pipe in place and creates an audible click. Removing a SharkBite fitting is just as easy with no tools needed; simply twist the cap turn counterclockwise to unlock then depress collet against the fitting to remove the pipe. ProLock fittings are suitable for hot and cold potable water and hydronic heating applications. They have been specifically designed for the Professional Plumber. Code approved for behind-the-wall installations. 25-year SharkBite System warranty when used with SharkBite PE-RT & PEX pipe. Color: Black.

I really thought the Shark Bite Push to Connect was convenient for DIYers. This new ProLock stepped the ease up a notch. You do not need a tool to disconnect so it is even more "plug and play". Just click on the pipe and twist the top till the arrows meet up. To disconnect just untwist and push the tabs back and the pipe slides right out. Doesnt leak and is so easy to use. Buy the bulk packs and just leave all kinds around the house.
Pros: Durable, Easy to Clean, Easy to Install, Easy to Use, Good Size & Weight, High Quality, Looks Great, Lots of Features, Nice Design, Sturdy, Stylish

I will not be able to paint the outside once it is installed in a very tight spot. Is there any way to purchase it pre-painted sides?
          December 4, 2017
          Answer:
I have not seen that as an option. You could maybe throw the installers a couple
Bucks and have them pay the parts that will be hard to paint and you and someone just blast it out while the base is being assembled.

From what i can see you would need to buy a whole new unit. But the LED "bulb" should last you around 20 years.
