This Ottomanson Charcoal 24 in. 36 in. Loop Carpet Natural Rubber Door Mat is ideal for the entry to the back patio door from the back porch. The 24 in. x 36 in. size is good. The pattern is attractive and the charcoal color works well with the bronze finish of the door. The non-slip backing will prevent it from slipping around. While the texture of this mat is not as thick or course as some, it should work well for minimizing the tracking of dirt and small pebbles, and shouldn’t tend to hold on to pine debris as badly as other door mats we’ve used, it probably wouldn’t be great for getting in between the lugs on heavy lug shoes, boot, etc. (There are other products for that purpose). It’s a bit smaller and lighter than the previous half-moon shaped mat we’ve been using, so it’ll be easier to shake off and hose down when needed. Since it’s one-piece we don’t have to be concerned with the textured part peeling away from the backing. Of course, it can also be used indoors if desired. Only time will tell how long it lasts, but it looks quite good to us right now. It would be really good to see “MADE IN USA”, but as with far too many things today, it’s made in China. Read Less

This Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away Speed Vacuum is OK for general vacuuming. It comes with a good assortment of tools/attachments for different cleaning chores, including a Precision Duster for small things like computer keyboards or delicate electronics. The Under Appliance Wand is nice to have. The vacuum pod can be easily lifted off for those jobs where the upright just won’t work well. The fingertip surface selector switch makes it easy to switch the suction from hard floor to carpet, to area rugs. The pod is easy to empty, and filters are very easy to clean. The cord is plenty long, wraps around two hooks, and is easy to unwrap by simply turning the top hook down (though I prefer auto-wind cords).
However, for us, there are a few drawbacks to this Shark. While the Shark will be good for quick vacuuming of the floors, being an upright, it is not so great for cleaning in corners or dusting. We’ve always used canister type vacuums, and really like the ability to change tools and wand length without disassembling things. With the Shark, in order to use any of the attachments, the handle and/or wand, must be removed. The short hose requires removal of the pod for carrying around, and even then it’s awkward for cleaning window sills, or reaching things like blinds or registers/vents, etc. The brush on the Duster/Crevice Tool is too thin and soft to do much on blinds, registers/vents, etc.
I guess it just boils down to personal preference. We’ll certainly not be getting rid of our bagless canister.

The General Tools Rubber Strap Wrench is ideal for holding, tightening or loosening irregular shapes. It can be used to open or tighten jar lids, bottles, pipes or any other round or oblong object. This wrench features a locking mechanism that provides leverage on odd-shaped, hard-to-grasp objects. A tough, thin 3/4 in. wide strap is great for tight spaces. Unlike metal wrenches, the rubber strap doesn't damage surfaces. This wrench has a slip-resistant grip for ease of use.

This 6 in. Rubber Strap Wrench from General Tools is good to have. Rubber strap wrenches are extremely handy for many types of work, from opening jars to changing oil filters, to plumbing, etc. The rubber strap is non-marring, so it’s good for use with plastic, glass, metal, or odd-shaped items that could be damaged by other tools. And, of course, it’s about the only thing for use with tight jar lids. This one is good for items up to 6 inches in diameter.
I have several other rubber strap wrenches in various sizes, but this one is unique. The rubber strap is a bit thicker than any of the others I have. The strap can be removed from and inserted back into the handle via a full length slot

And, of course, it’s about the only thing for use with tight jar lids. This one is good for items up to 6 inches in diameter.
I have several other rubber strap wrenches in various sizes, but this one is unique. The rubber strap is a bit thicker than any of the others I have. The strap can be removed from and inserted back into the handle via a full length slot on the back side, making it much easier to get around or remove from pre-assembled items with no exposed end like traps. However, I found that it can unintentionally come out of that slot, which might be problematic in some situations. The strap can be tightened around an object by simply pulling it through the handle like any other. To loosen it, there is a lever type serrated locking mechanism that must be opened away from the handle, but is very effective at keeping the strap tight. With this design, the handle is a bit wider and thicker than others which might make it more difficult to use in some applications (like the oil filter on our car).
At our advancing age, with not-so-nimble hands/fingers, we’re discovering that jar lids seem to be getting harder for us to open. We often use a strap wrench for those, usually just one strap wrench, but sometimes we need two – one for the jar and one for the lid. With the larger size handle and thicker strap, this one will be great for glass jars. I always use a strap wrench to remove oil filters on the vehicles, which makes that task much easier. I also use them for light plumbing jobs, like loosening/tightening traps or shower heads/nipples. I may even like this better than the wrench that came with our whole house sediment filter.
Overall, I like some aspects of this strap wrench better than others, but there are also some reasons to use other types or styles.

The General Tools 70399 Lighted Steel Claw Mechanical Pick-Up Tool makes it easier to reach into dark and inaccessible spaces. The flexible 36 in. shaft bends to probe into cramped areas, such as under the couch, behind the dryer and tight corners. A 4-pronged steel claw reacher with a 1 in. jaw opening lets you pick up keys, rings, socks, screws and other small items that have fallen out of reach. A push-on, white LED light illuminates even the darkest spaces and has a 100,000-hour battery life. The reacher and shaft are corrosion-resistant, making them ideal for reaching down sink drains and into plumbing.

I like this 36 in. Lighted Mechanical Pick-Up Tool from General Tools. All too often a part gets dropped in a spot that’s virtually impossible to get to with the hands or a tool, and a pick-up tool is a necessity. I have several magnetic pick-up tools, one of which is lighted. However, they ONLY work with magnetic (ferrous) items, so if I need to retrieve a non-magnetic item those are not any help. Another issue with magnetic type tools is that they often stick to parts other than the one to be retrieved, making it difficult to reach the item. My last claw type pick-up tool broke at the plunger, so I’ve needed a new one. This one fits the bill very well. The plunger control handle is larger, Read More

The plunger control handle is larger, solid, and much easier to use than any I’ve had before. The light switch is built into the plunger handle and works when the plunger is depressed. The claw appears to be quite strong, opens to 1 in., and the light is plenty bright, and right where needed. The 36 in. black coated cable is good for all-around use in the shop, and is flexible, yet stiff enough to guide easily. I may even want to get the 12 and/or 24 in. models. Read Less

Hex bolts are hexagonal head fasteners with machine threads. They are commonly used for machinery and construction projects, both residential and commercial. Fully threaded sizes provide excellent grip strength. Partially threaded sizes help where shear resistance is important. Secure with a corresponding nut or use in a tapped (threaded) hole.

          Hey MtnMan,
The head marking on these bolt is ADC, which means nothing about the grade. That being said,, these are SAE Grade 1 low-carbon steel with no strength rating, or grade 2 low-carbon steel with a proof load of 55,000 psi, minimum tensile strength of 74,000 psi, and minimum yield strength of 57,000 psi. Hope this helps.
