I have a very small kitchen and no space for a hanging paper towel holder. I was afraid that a counter top holder would require two hands to get the paper towel off, BUT this one does not. I'm glad I took a chance and got it.

Every garden--and more important, every gardener--deserves at least one plant like 'Lucerne'. It requires absolutely no care after planting, and returns year after year for three solid months of fresh, neat foliage, plus two seasons of cheery blue blooms. The sword-like foliage stands straight up and out, 8 to 10 in. tall, creating a neat appearance for edging, the front of the border, or mixed plantings. And beginning in late spring and continuing into summer, deep blue blooms with yellow-starred centers dot the foliage. Amazingly beautiful when planted in mass.
Similar to Dianthus 'Bath's Pink', but with single shockingly magenta-pink flowers that are nearly fringed on the end. The flowers are spicy, clove-scented and face upwards for maximum color impact. Butterflies are attracted to the flowers, which also make excellent cut and dried flowers. The plants bloom heavily from late spring into early summer, intermittently throughout summer, and often reblooms in fall; particularly when deadheaded consistently. Tight mats of silvery -blue, needle-like, 4-6 in. tall, evergreen foliage lay below the 7-8 in. tall flower masses. Grows best in loose, well drained, slightly alkaline soil in full sun. Fewer flowers will be produced when grown in hot, dry areas. Use as a contrast in the rock garden, in container, or as a small border front. Good edging plant; space 12 in. apart.
